The Take

Between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 50,000, phones stop sharing one compromise and start choosing different ones. Spend near the top and you get the OnePlus Nord 6, the most complete phone in the band. Spend near the bottom and the realme P4s 5G gives you an 8,000mAh battery, 80W charging and a 1.5K 144Hz screen for about Rs. 35,000, which is the best value on this list. In between, every pick here is the right answer to a specific question: size, zoom, photographs, slimness or sheer endurance. Know your question first; the list does the rest.

OnePlus Nord 6, our best overall pick

Rs. 20,000 separates the cheapest phone in this band from the dearest, and the dearest is not Rs. 20,000 better at everything. That is what makes this the most interesting price range in India right now and the easiest one to overspend in.

We started from the 43 phones in our index that street in this band, then checked every serious candidate against live listings at major retailers on 3 October 2026. Several fell out at that stage, and why they fell out is worth knowing. One popular mid-ranger is out of stock in every configuration at the largest retailer that sold it. Another is down to a single marketplace seller that will not ship to most of the country. A third has quietly slipped below Rs. 30,000 in its base version and belongs in a cheaper guide. A fourth, one of the fastest phones in the band, is down to scattered stock, which is not a phone we can send you to buy. What is left is 7 phones you can actually order today, each priced from what retailers are charging this week rather than what the phones launched at.

How to read the prices

Where 2 major retailers list a phone, we print the range between them. Where only one major retailer sells it, we print a price only when we have confirmed that listing directly, and we say so. Launch prices are labelled as launch prices. Most of these phones cost more today than when they launched; we say by how much where it matters.

01 - Best overall

OnePlus Nord 6

About Rs. 47,000 for 8GB + 256GB. Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a 9,000mAh battery charged at 80W, a 6.78-inch AMOLED at 165Hz, IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, and 4 Android upgrades with 6 years of patches. Nothing else on this list pairs a chip from this tier with a battery this size. It is better specified than 88% of the 217 phones we track on sale in India.

The catch is the price history. The Nord 6 launched at Rs. 38,999 and OnePlus has since raised its list price 4 times, to Rs. 46,999, which is where retailers sell it today. You are paying flagship-adjacent money for it now, and it is a large, heavy phone with no telephoto. It is still the one we would buy with Rs. 47,000 and no particular priority. Our OnePlus Nord 6 review has the detail.

02 - Best value

realme P4s 5G

Listings for the 8GB + 128GB sit between Rs. 33,000 and Rs. 35,000. An 8,000mAh battery at 80W, a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED at 144Hz, a Dimensity 7400 Ultra, a stabilised 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide, and IP66, IP68 and IP69. On published specification it is better specified than 92% of the 217 phones we track, one of the highest in this band.

What keeps it off the top spot is the chip, which is a solid mid-range part rather than a fast one, and an update promise of 3 Android upgrades and 4 years of patches, the shortest among our main picks. If you do not game seriously and do not plan to keep the phone past 2030, it is very hard to argue with at this price.

03 - Best compact phone

Xiaomi Redmi Turbo 5

Listings sit between Rs. 41,500 and Rs. 44,500 for 8GB + 256GB. A 6.59-inch phone in a list of 6.8-inch giants, with a Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a 7,540mAh battery charged at 100W, a 120Hz AMOLED, a stabilised 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide, all 4 IP ratings up to IP69K, and, per Xiaomi India, 4 Android upgrades with 6 years of patches. Better specified than 84% of the phones we track.

Note the India battery: 7,540mAh, slightly smaller than the figure quoted for the model sold in China. The camera is a 2-lens set, and the spread between retailers is wide, so check both before buying.

04 - Best for zoom

Nothing Phone 4a Pro

Listings sit between Rs. 46,500 and Rs. 50,000 for 8GB + 128GB. The only phone on this list with a periscope telephoto: a 50MP camera at 3.5x optical zoom beside a stabilised 50MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide. It runs a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a 144Hz 6.83-inch AMOLED, and Nothing promises 3 Android upgrades with 6 years of patches. Better specified than 76% of the phones we track.

The compromises are real. The battery is 5,400mAh, which Nothing says is an India-only figure larger than the global model's but still the smallest here, charged at 50W. It is rated only IP65. Buy it if you photograph things you cannot walk closer to. Our Nothing Phone 4a Pro review goes deeper.

05 - Best main camera on paper

vivo V70 FE

Rs. 44,999 for 8GB + 128GB, at the one major retailer where we confirmed it. A 200MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide, a 7,000mAh battery at 90W, a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED at 120Hz, IP68 and IP69, and 6 years of security patches. Better specified than 85% of the phones we track.

The chip, a Dimensity 7360 Turbo, is the most modest on this list, so this is a phone for photographs and battery rather than games. Our vivo V70 FE review covers it in full.

06 - Best slim phone

vivo T5 5G, also sold as the iQOO Z11

Rs. 34,999 for 6GB + 128GB under either badge. The same phone under 2 names: the vivo T5 5G and the iQOO Z11 share the same dimensions, weight, chip, battery and cameras, and each is sold through a different major retailer at the same base price today. A 7,050mAh battery in a 7.99mm, 199g body, a curved 1.5K AMOLED at 144Hz, IP68 and IP69, a stabilised 50MP Sony main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide, and 4K video from both cameras.

It charges at a modest 44W and promises 3 Android upgrades with 5 years of patches, and 6GB of RAM on the base model is on the thin side. But nothing else here holds this much battery in a body this light. Buy whichever badge is cheaper on the day. We set it against a battery-first rival in POCO X8 Power vs vivo T5.

07 - Best battery

POCO X8 Power

Launched at Rs. 35,999 for 8GB + 128GB, and sold today through one major retailer. 10,000mAh, charged at 100W, in an 8.65mm body, with IP ratings up to IP69K and 4 Android upgrades with 6 years of patches. Better specified than 81% of the phones we track. If your phone is a tool you use outdoors all day, nothing else on this list lasts as long.

What you give up is weight, at 229g, and a mid-range chip at a price where faster ones are available higher up this page. Our POCO X8 Power review makes the full case.

08 - The pattern

4 of these phones start within about Rs. 4,000 of each other.

Look at the prices again and a cluster appears. The P4s, the vivo T5 and its iQOO twin, and the POCO X8 Power all start between about Rs. 31,000 and Rs. 35,000, and they want completely different things: value, slimness and endurance. That is the real story of this band in late 2026. At Rs. 35,000 you are no longer choosing how much phone you can afford. You are choosing what kind.

And if you are shopping one step down, our best smartphones under Rs. 30,000, battery guide for Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 and display guide for the same band cover it.

The Verdict

The OnePlus Nord 6 is the best phone between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 50,000, and the realme P4s 5G is the best buy. If you want one phone that does everything well and can spend about Rs. 47,000, buy the Nord 6, knowing it costs Rs. 8,000 more than it did at launch. If you would rather keep Rs. 12,000, the P4s gives you more battery and a better-rated specification sheet for about Rs. 35,000, with a slower chip and a shorter update promise as the price. Everyone else should pick by priority: the Redmi Turbo 5 for size, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro for zoom, the vivo V70 FE for photographs, the vivo T5 or iQOO Z11 for slimness, and the POCO X8 Power for endurance. Every pick judged on published specification and live retail prices on 3 October 2026, not on a hands-on test.

7 phones, all orderable today, priced from live listings rather than launch sheets. At Rs. 35,000 you are no longer choosing how much phone you can afford. You are choosing what kind.
