iQOO Z11 Review: The Case for a Smaller Battery

The Take

At Rs. 35,000 the fashion is a battery you could jump-start a scooter with: 9,000mAh, 10,000mAh, and the charging to match. The iQOO Z11 brings a mere 7,050mAh, and that turns out to be the smartest thing about it. The battery it skipped paid for a 144Hz 1.5K curved AMOLED, a stabilised Sony IMX882 main camera, 4K video from both cameras, Wi-Fi 6, IP68 and IP69, and a body of 7.99mm and 199g. Listings sit at Rs. 34,500 to Rs. 36,000 for 6GB + 128GB. Buy it if you want the phone that is good at ordinary things. Buy a battery phone only if running for days is the whole brief.

One thing before the case. The iQOO Z11 is the same phone as the vivo T5 5G: same chip, same screen, same cameras, same battery, same 199 grams. On 7 October the T5 lists at about Rs. 35,000 and the Z11 at Rs. 34,500 to Rs. 36,000, so price both badges the day you buy and take the cheaper one. Everything below applies to both. This one is also not the iQOO Z11x, a different and cheaper phone with an LCD.

01 - The case for less

Where the missing 2,000mAh went.

Line it up against the 2 battery phones it competes with on price. The POCO X8 Power 5G carries 10,000mAh at about Rs. 36,000, and the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G 9,000mAh at about Rs. 37,000. Both are 226 to 229 grams. The Z11 is 199 grams and 7.99mm thin, so 27 to 30 grams lighter, and on a phone you lift a few hundred times a day that is not trivial. The realme P4s 5G sits between the 2 camps, with 8,000mAh at 208 grams for Rs. 33,000 to Rs. 35,000, and our realme P4s 5G review weighs that middle path.

Then look at what the Z11 does that both of those skip. It records 4K at 30fps from both cameras; the Redmi stops at 1080p. It has Wi-Fi 6; both of the battery phones are on Wi-Fi 5, which is the spec most likely to date a phone you intend to keep for years. Its screen refreshes at 144Hz against their 120Hz, on a 1.5K panel just as sharp. None of these are headline features. All of them are things you notice on a Tuesday.

And 7,050mAh is not small. It is a big battery by any standard except the one this price band has just invented. Silicon-carbon chemistry is what lets it fit in a body under 8mm, and the honest description of the trade is not "less battery" but "enough battery, and a thinner, better-equipped phone around it".

02 - What it gets right

A camera spec list with no filler on it.

The main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX882 on a 1/1.95-inch sensor with optical stabilisation, and that combination of a reasonably large sensor and a stabiliser is the one that decides whether night and indoor photos come out sharp. Beside it sits a real 8MP ultra-wide, not a 2MP depth sensor included to make the camera island look busy. The 32MP front camera also shoots 4K. On paper, this is a complete camera kit.

Durability is properly done too: IP68 and IP69, and iQOO describes the build as military-grade, drop-tested from 1.22 metres. Stereo speakers and an IR blaster are both here, and the software promise is 3 Android upgrades with 5 years of security patches.

03 - What it gives up

44W, 6GB, and a plastic back.

The compromises are real and worth naming. 44W charging is modest for a 7,050mAh cell when the POCO next door charges at 100W, so this is a phone you top up overnight rather than over a cup of tea. The base model has 6GB of RAM, which is fine today and a little thin for a phone promised 3 Android upgrades; if you can stretch, the 8GB configuration is the one we would want for a 5-year phone. There is no NFC, no microSD slot, and the back and frame are plastic.

The update promise is also shorter than its rivals'. The POCO X8 Power and Redmi Note 17 Pro both promise 4 OS upgrades and 6 years of patches; the Z11 promises 3 and 5. If you keep phones for a very long time, that difference outlives the battery argument.

04 - Against its rivals

Who should buy what, at about Rs. 35,000.

vivo T5 5G, about Rs. 35,000: the same phone. Buy whichever badge is cheaper on the day. Our vivo T5 5G review covers it in full.

POCO X8 Power 5G, about Rs. 36,000: 10,000mAh, 100W charging, 4 ratings up to IP69K and a longer update promise, in a heavier phone with Wi-Fi 5. Buy it if the battery is the point. Our POCO X8 Power vs vivo T5 comparison settles that exact choice, and it applies to the Z11 word for word.

Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, about Rs. 37,000: 9,000mAh and the POCO's screen and ratings, but 1080p video and a weaker chip than the POCO. It is the hardest of the 3 to recommend; see our Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G review.

iQOO Z11x: a cheaper, different phone with a 6.76-inch FHD+ LCD, a Dimensity 7400 Turbo, a bigger 7,200mAh cell and no stabiliser on the main camera. Our iQOO Z11x review has the detail.

Buy it if
  • You want a slim, light phone with a big-enough battery
  • You shoot video, given 4K from both cameras and OIS
  • You want Wi-Fi 6 and a 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED
  • You want 2 days of battery and fast charging above all
  • You need NFC for tap-to-pay
  • You keep phones for 6 years and want the longer update promise
The Verdict

Buy, for most people at Rs. 35,000. The iQOO Z11 declines the battery arms race and spends the money on a better screen, a complete stabilised camera kit, 4K video, Wi-Fi 6 and a body you will barely notice. Its charging is slow for the class and its update promise is shorter, so battery-first buyers should look at the POCO X8 Power. Everyone else should buy this or the vivo T5, whichever is cheaper on the day.

Not every phone needs to last a long weekend. This one would rather be good all day.

How we priced and checked this

Prices are live listings for the base 6GB + 128GB model, confirmed on 7 October 2026 at major Indian retailers; launch prices are labelled as such. Specifications are for the India model, confirmed against at least 2 independent sources each and led by the maker's own India specification; a different phone sold as the iQOO Z11 in China has a bigger battery and faster charging, so figures quoted for that model do not apply here. Our verdicts are based on published specification, not on hands-on testing: we have not held this phone.
