OPPO F33 5G Review: 80W, 189g, and a Cheaper Price Than Its Launch

The Take

On 5 October OPPO launched a phone with this one's chip, this one's screen and this one's 80W charging, and asked Rs. 38,999 for it. The phone it replaced, the OPPO F33 5G, now sells for about Rs. 28,500, roughly Rs. 3,500 under its own April launch price. That makes the F33 the most sensible way into OPPO's F series this month: a 7,000mAh battery that refills at 80W, IP66, IP68 and IP69K, and a 189g body that is properly pocketable by 2026 standards. The catch is a sibling from the other side of the family. Buy it if small and quick matters to you. Otherwise, spend Rs. 1,500 more on the OPPO K14 Plus.

01 - The defence

A small phone that refills before your chai cools.

The Indian mid-range has decided that more is the only direction. Batteries have climbed to 7,000mAh and 8,000mAh, screens have crept towards 7 inches, and the phones that carry them crept past 200 grams. The F33 is a polite refusal. Its 6.57-inch screen is one of the smaller panels you can buy at this money, the body is 8mm thin, and it weighs 189g. If your current phone lives in a shirt pocket or a small handbag, that is not a footnote. It is the brief.

And it does not shrink the battery to get there. A 7,000mAh cell in a phone this size is the part that takes engineering, and OPPO did it without making the F33 thick. The charging is the part that earns real applause: 80W, with the 80W brick in the box, into a 7,000mAh cell. A big battery with slow charging is a compromise. A big battery with fast charging is a phone you top up while you shower and forget about until tomorrow.

The toughness list is the other genuine strength. IP66, IP68 and IP69K cover dust, submersion, and high-pressure hot water jets, and OPPO claims military-grade shock resistance on top. For a monsoon commute or a phone that will be handed to a child, that is a meaningful set of numbers, and the F33 has all 3 IP ratings that matter at a price where many rivals stop at one.

2 small things kept that others have dropped: a microSD slot, and Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC for wireless earphones that can use it.

02 - The price story

Rs. 31,999 in April. About Rs. 28,500 now.

Most of what we write in 2026 runs the other way. Indian street prices have been climbing all year, and plenty of phones now cost more than they did at launch. The F33 is one of the exceptions. It launched at Rs. 31,999 for 6GB + 128GB on 15 April, and live listings at 2 major retailers both read about Rs. 28,500 for that model today. That is roughly Rs. 3,500, or 11%, under launch.

The reason is not hard to find. The OPPO F35 5G launched on 5 October at Rs. 38,999 (launch price, 6GB + 128GB) and goes on sale on 11 October. It keeps the F33's Dimensity 6360 Max, the same 120Hz AMOLED and the same 80W charging. What it adds is 1,000mAh more battery, a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, and higher-resolution video that OPPO says arrives by a later software update. It also adds 16 grams. On paper, that is about Rs. 10,500 for a battery, a selfie camera and a promise, on the same chip. Read our OPPO F35 launch coverage for the full sheet.

The F33 Pro, which we reviewed when it launched, shares this phone's chip, screen, battery and rear cameras. Its real addition is a 50MP autofocus front camera. If selfies are not why you are shopping, the plain F33 is the one to look at. Our OPPO F33 Pro review covers that phone.

03 - The honest compromises

What Rs. 28,500 does not buy here.

The chip is an entry-tier part. The Dimensity 6360 Max pairs 2 Cortex-A76 cores with 6 efficiency cores on a 6nm process, with LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. On specification, that is fine for messaging, UPI, video and social apps. It is not built for heavy gaming, and the storage is a generation behind what several phones at this price now carry.

No stabilisation. OPPO lists neither OIS nor EIS for the F33, and video stops at 1080p. The second rear camera is a 2MP monochrome sensor, not an ultrawide. Our long-standing view is that OIS is the dividing line in this price range, and the F33 sits on the wrong side of it.

No published update policy. OPPO has not stated how many Android upgrades or years of security patches the F33 will get. Its marketing talks about long-term smoothness and battery health, which are not the same thing. An unstated policy is not a point in a phone's favour.

No NFC, no headphone jack, Wi-Fi 5. Tap-to-pay is out, and so is a wired headphone without a USB-C adapter.

04 - The family problem

The rival that decides this is also an OPPO.

The OPPO K14 Plus 5G costs about Rs. 30,000 for 6GB + 128GB today, Rs. 1,500 more. For that, the specification sheet moves a long way: a 4nm Dimensity 7360 Max, a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED, an 8,000mAh battery, OIS on the main camera with 4K video, UFS 3.1 storage, Wi-Fi 6, and IP69 added to the same 3 IP ratings. Our OPPO K14 Plus launch coverage has the detail.

So the F33 wins on 3 rows: charging speed, size and weight, and the memory card. The K14 Plus wins on the chip, the screen, the camera, the battery and the storage. For most buyers, that is not close, and Rs. 1,500 is a small price for it. The F33's case is real but narrow: you want the smaller, lighter phone, and you want 80W charging to go with it.

At the same money, the Redmi Note 17 5G sits at about Rs. 28,000 for 6GB + 128GB with an 8,000mAh battery, a 6.99-inch screen and a published update promise, but at 225g it is the opposite answer to the F33's question. Our Redmi Note 17 5G vs OPPO F33 5G comparison puts the 2 side by side. For the wider field, our guide to the best battery phones between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000 ranks what is worth buying today.

Buy it if
  • You want a 7,000mAh phone that still weighs under 190g
  • Fast charging matters: 80W with the charger in the box
  • You need serious water and dust ratings, or a memory card slot
  • You shoot video or low-light photos: there is no stabilisation
  • You want the best chip and screen for about Rs. 30,000: the K14 Plus is ahead
  • You need tap-to-pay or a written update promise
The Verdict

Consider, for the compact buyer. The OPPO F33 5G is a genuinely likeable phone at its new price: a 7,000mAh battery, 80W charging and 3 serious IP ratings in a 189g body, for about Rs. 3,500 less than it launched at. Its weaknesses are the chip, the missing stabilisation and the unpublished update policy. The newer F35 asks about Rs. 10,500 more for the same chip, which makes the F33 the better F-series buy this month. But OPPO's own K14 Plus costs about Rs. 1,500 more and is the stronger phone on nearly every row. Choose the F33 for size and charging speed; choose the K14 Plus for everything else.

The small one that charges fast. Not the best OPPO for Rs. 30,000.

How we priced and checked this

The price is for the base 6GB + 128GB model, read from live listings at 2 major Indian retailers on 9 October 2026; launch prices are labelled as such. Rival prices are live listings for each phone's base model, checked the same day. Specifications are confirmed against at least 2 independent sources each, led by the maker's own India specification. Where sources disagreed, such as the build material, the speakers and a fourth IP rating, we left the claim out. Our verdict is based on published specification, not hands-on testing: we have not held this phone.
