vivo V80 5G Launched in India at Rs. 62,999: 7,200mAh, 144Hz and a Familiar Camera
vivo launched the V80 5G in India on 6 October at Rs. 62,999 for 8GB + 128GB, with pre-orders open now and sales from 13 October. It brings the largest battery vivo has fitted to a V-series phone here, 7,200mAh at 90W, a 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED, 2 stabilised 50MP rear cameras including a 3x telephoto, and IP68 plus IP69. The part worth reading twice: it shares its chip and its entire camera sheet with the vivo V70, which today sells for about Rs. 60,000 with twice the storage and faster memory.

A bigger battery and a faster screen, in a thin glass body.
The headline is the cell. 7,200mAh in a phone 7.69mm thin and 203g is a genuine piece of packaging, and 90W charging means it does not take all evening to fill. Bypass charging is there too, so the phone can run straight off the charger during a long gaming or navigation session instead of cycling the battery.
The camera set is the V-series' strongest argument. A 50MP main camera with OIS and a 50MP 3x telephoto, also stabilised, is a genuine portrait-and-zoom pairing, both carry ZEISS tuning, and the main camera records 4K at 60fps. The 50MP front camera has autofocus, which matters for anyone who films themselves. The screen is a flat 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED at up to 144Hz. vivo quotes 5,000 nits as a local peak, which is a highlight figure for a small part of the panel rather than full-screen brightness.
vivo promises up to 6 years of security updates, counted from the phone's first global launch. It has not published a number of Android upgrades on its India page, so we are not printing one.
The V70 is the same camera, for Rs. 10,000 less.
Here is the comparison that matters for anyone with Rs. 60,000 to spend. On vivo's own India specification pages, the V80 and the vivo V70 share the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and an identical rear and front camera sheet, down to the apertures. What the V80 adds is real: 700mAh more battery, 144Hz in place of 120Hz, and Android 17 at launch. What it gives up is less obvious and worth knowing: the V70 uses faster LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, where the V80 uses LPDDR4X and UFS 3.1.
| Spec | vivo V80 5G | vivo V70 |
|---|---|---|
| 8GB + 256GB price | Rs. 69,999 (launch) | About Rs. 60,000 (today) |
| Chipset | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
| Memory / storage | LPDDR4X / UFS 3.1 | LPDDR5X / UFS 4.1 |
| Battery / charging | 7,200mAh / 90W | 6,500mAh / 90W |
| Refresh rate | Up to 144Hz | Up to 120Hz |
| Cameras | Identical: 50MP OIS main, 50MP 3x OIS telephoto, 8MP ultrawide, 50MP front | |
| Weight / thickness | 203g / 7.69mm | 194g / 7.59mm |
So at matched 8GB + 256GB, the V70 is about Rs. 10,000 cheaper today, lighter, and faster at moving data, with the same cameras. The V80's entry model at Rs. 62,999 has half that storage. If the bigger battery and the 144Hz screen are the reasons you want a V-series phone, the V80 is the one that has them. If the cameras are the reason, the older model does the same job for less. For the band below, the vivo V70 FE sells for about Rs. 45,000 with a 200MP main camera, a 7,000mAh battery at 90W and IP68 plus IP69, but a slower chip and no telephoto.
The street price, and the storage on the bigger models.
The V80 has not gone on sale yet, so there is no street price to quote; the figures above are launch prices, labelled as such. vivo's launch offers, a 10% instant cashback with selected banks and UPI or a 10% exchange bonus, plus a free year of extended warranty, will move the effective price during the festive sale, so check the listing on the day you buy. Some launch coverage says the 256GB and 512GB models use faster UFS 4.1 storage; vivo's own specification lists UFS 3.1 only, so that is what we print until vivo says otherwise.
The vivo V80 is a well-made phone with a strong camera pairing, the biggest battery the V-series has carried in India and a 144Hz screen in a 203g glass body. It is also the V70's chip and cameras, with slower memory, at a higher price. Buy the V80 for the battery and the screen. If the cameras are the point, the V70 is about Rs. 10,000 cheaper at the same storage today.
A bigger battery on a familiar camera. Check the V70's price before you pre-order.
The camera route for less: vivo V70 FE review. Everything at the band below: best phones between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 50,000.
Specifications are confirmed against the maker's India specification pages and at least 1 independent India launch report; where sources disagreed, such as the storage type on the bigger models, reverse charging and the Wi-Fi generation, we left the figure out. V80 prices are launch prices announced on 6 October 2026. The V70 and V70 FE prices are live listings for each phone's base model at major Indian retailers, checked on 8 October 2026. Our verdicts are based on published specification, not on hands-on testing: we have not held this phone.
