iQOO 15 Review: Buy Now, or Wait for the 16

The Take

iQOO has confirmed the iQOO 16 for India and has not said when it arrives or what it will cost here. That is the backdrop for every iQOO 15 bought this month, and it is a better backdrop than it sounds. Judged on its own sheet, the 15 leaves very little out: a 6.85-inch 2K screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 7,000mAh with 100W charging, a 3x periscope on a large sensor, IP68 and IP69, and a promise of 5 Android upgrades. On 22 October live listings sat between Rs. 83,000 and Rs. 86,000. Buy it if you need a flagship now. If you can wait, wait for the 16's India price before you pay this one's.

01 - The calendar

A confirmed successor with no date is a reason to look, not a reason to freeze.

iQOO's India chief confirmed the iQOO 16 for this market at the India Mobile Congress this month. There is no launch date and no Indian price. The version already sold in China carries a newer Snapdragon and, by China launch coverage, an 8,400mAh battery. If the India model keeps that sheet, it is a real step rather than a new colour.

What that means for you depends on one question: do you need a phone before the 16 has a price? If your current phone is dying, nothing about the 15 gets worse the day its successor launches. It is the same phone with the same update promise. If your phone is fine, patience buys you information, and information is the cheapest upgrade there is.

02 - What it does brilliantly

The screen, and almost everything behind it.

The display. 6.85 inches at 2K resolution, 508 pixels per inch, up to 144Hz, and 2,600 nits in high-brightness mode. The OnePlus 15, at the same money, stops at 1.5K. The iQOO's panel is sharper on paper and, against the OnePlus, about 44% brighter in high-brightness mode, which is the number that matters on a two-wheeler at noon.

The battery, which is not a trade. 7,000mAh with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, in a phone that also has a 2K screen, a periscope and IP69. Flagships used to make you choose 2 of those. This one declines to.

The zoom lens. The 3x periscope sits on a 1/1.95-inch Sony sensor with stabilisation. That is a large sensor for a telephoto, and a larger sensor gathers more light, which is what decides whether a zoomed shot across a dim restaurant comes out clean.

The years. 5 Android upgrades and 7 years of security updates, as iQOO announced at launch. The first of those, OriginOS 7 on Android 17, is scheduled for the iQOO 15 by the end of October, according to iQOO India's own published timeline. It is first in iQOO's schedule, ahead of the rest of the range.

The small things. An ultrasonic fingerprint reader, an IR blaster for the TV remote you lost, and iQOO's separate Q3 graphics chip for game upscaling.

03 - What it compromises

Rs. 13,000 since launch, and a few grams.

The iQOO 15 launched at Rs. 72,999 for 12GB and 256GB. iQOO raised it in steps through 2026, to a list price of Rs. 85,999 in August, about 18% above launch. The street has barely undercut the sticker: the lower live listing is about Rs. 2,500 under it and still about Rs. 10,500 above the launch price. A phone that was a flagship at a near-flagship price is now a flagship at a flagship price.

It is also a heavy, large phone, 216g to 220g depending on colour, with a 6.85-inch screen. The 40W wireless charging needs iQOO's dock, which is sold separately. And for the record, the dust and water ratings stop at IP68 and IP69, where the OnePlus 15 adds 2 more.

04 - The rivals

Rs. 85,000 is a crowded table.

The OnePlus 15 sells for about Rs. 85,000, on the same chip, with more battery, faster charging and tougher ratings, but a less sharp screen and 1 fewer Android upgrade. We put the 2 side by side in OnePlus 15 vs iQOO 15 and gave it to the iQOO, narrowly. If you want the same family's formula for about Rs. 30,000 less, the iQOO 15R moves to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, carries an even bigger 7,600mAh battery, and drops the 2K screen and the periscope; its base model listed between Rs. 53,000 and Rs. 58,000 on 22 October. And about Rs. 8,000 more buys the Galaxy S25 Ultra, last year's Samsung Ultra, with an S Pen, a 5x lens and a smaller battery.

Buy it if
  • You need a flagship now and cannot wait for the next one
  • You read and watch more than you game
  • You want 7,000mAh without giving up the screen or the zoom
  • You keep a phone 5 years or hand it down
  • You can wait to see what the iQOO 16 costs here
  • You want the biggest battery and fastest charging at this money
  • You want the toughest dust and water ratings at this money
  • You want a smaller, lighter phone
The Verdict

Buy, if your clock says now. The iQOO 15 is a genuinely complete flagship: a sharper, brighter screen than its closest rival's, a 7,000mAh battery that costs it nothing elsewhere, a zoom lens on a sensor big enough to matter, and an update promise that runs longer than its closest rival's. It is not a bargain any more; at Rs. 83,000 to Rs. 86,000 it is priced like what it is. If you can wait, wait for the iQOO 16's India price. Either the new phone earns its money, or the old one becomes the smarter buy. Both outcomes are good for you.

2K, 7,000mAh, 5 upgrades. Buy now if you must. Watch the 16 if you can.

We have not used this phone. This review is based on published specifications and live retail listings checked on 22 October 2026.
