Moto G06 Power Review: The Rs. 7,499 Phone Now Costs Rs. 12,000

The Take

In October 2025 Motorola launched the Moto G06 Power at Rs. 7,499: a 7,000mAh battery, a 6.88-inch 120Hz screen, stereo speakers, a headphone jack and IP64, for less than a pair of good earphones. A year later it is the same phone, and live listings sit between Rs. 11,500 and Rs. 13,000, 50% to 70% more. The battery is still a gem. The Rs. 7,499 phone is gone, and at Rs. 12,000 this is a phone for one kind of buyer only.

01 - What it was

A small miracle at Rs. 7,499.

There used to be a kind of phone you bought for a parent, a grandparent, a driver or a second SIM. It did not need to be fast. It needed a big battery, a speaker loud enough to hear in a kitchen, a body that shrugs off a spill, and a price lower than the argument about buying it. The G06 Power was built squarely for that buyer.

Look at what Rs. 7,499 bought in October 2025. A 7,000mAh battery, the kind usually found on phones costing twice as much. A 6.88-inch screen at 120Hz. Stereo speakers tuned for Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm jack, a dedicated microSD slot that does not steal the second SIM, IP64 against dust and splashes, a vegan leather back and Bluetooth 6.0. It was a phone that had thought hard about who would use it.

02 - What it still does well

The battery has not aged a day.

7,000mAh is still a lot of phone. Paired with an HD+ LCD and a modest chip, it is the right battery for someone who forgets to charge. The compromise is 18W charging, which is slow for a cell this size. A big battery with slow charging is a phone you top up overnight, not one you rescue at lunch. Motorola puts a 20W charger in the box, so there is nothing extra to buy.

The little things are still the right things. Stereo speakers, the headphone jack, the separate card slot, IP64 and a side fingerprint reader. None of them shows up in a headline, and every one of them matters to the person this phone is for.

03 - What it compromises

Rs. 12,000 for a phone built to cost Rs. 7,499.

The price. On 25 October 2026 live listings for the only configuration, 4GB and 64GB, sat between Rs. 11,500 and Rs. 13,000. That is Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,500 above launch, for the same phone. Nothing on the sheet changed. Only the number on the shelf did.

4G only. At Rs. 7,499 that was an easy trade. At Rs. 12,000 you are in a band where 5G is ordinary.

4GB and 64GB. The memory is enough for calls, WhatsApp and video. It is not enough for a phone you expect to stay quick for years, and the card slot helps with photos, not apps.

The software promise is thin. Motorola states no Android upgrades and 2 years of security updates. The phone launched on Android 15, and Motorola does not promise it will ever run anything newer. For a phone bought to be kept, that is the weakest row on the sheet.

The screen is HD+. 720 x 1640 across 6.88 inches is 263 pixels per inch by Motorola's figure, on an LCD rated at 600 nits in high brightness mode. Smooth at 120Hz, soft up close, and no friend of the afternoon sun.

04 - The rivals

A shelf that moved without it.

The trouble with a price that rose by more than half is that the phone now competes with a different shelf. At Rs. 7,499 the G06 Power's rivals were phones that cut corners it did not. At about Rs. 12,000 it sits among phones that offer 5G, more storage or a sharper screen, and it offers none of the 3. What it still offers that few at any price do is the combination: 7,000mAh, stereo speakers, a headphone jack, a card slot that leaves both SIMs free, and IP64, in one body.

If the battery is the brief and you can stretch, the 4G realme C100X carries 8,000mAh at 45W, at about Rs. 18,000. That is a lot more money for a faster charge. If 5G or a longer update promise matters more than the battery, our best phones under Rs. 15,000 weighs the rest of this shelf.

Buy it if
  • You are buying for someone who needs a big battery, loud speakers and nothing else
  • You want a headphone jack and a card slot that leaves both SIMs free
  • You have no use for 5G
  • You find it near the bottom of its Rs. 11,500 to Rs. 13,000 range
  • You want 5G, which is ordinary at this price
  • You want a sharper screen or more than 64GB
  • You want a phone supported for years: Motorola promises no Android upgrades for this one
  • Your budget is the Rs. 7,499 this phone launched at
The Verdict

Consider it, for one buyer only. The Moto G06 Power is still a thoughtful phone: 7,000mAh, stereo speakers, a headphone jack, a dedicated card slot and IP64. At its Rs. 7,499 launch price it was one of the easiest recommendations in Indian budget phones. At Rs. 11,500 to Rs. 13,000 it is 4G, 64GB and HD+ in a band where 5G is ordinary, with no Android upgrades promised. For a parent's phone or a second phone that must outlast the day, it is still a sound choice. As anyone's main phone for the next few years, it is not.

The battery is the same as it was. The bargain is not.

We have not used this phone. This review is based on Motorola India's published specifications, India launch coverage and live retail listings checked on 25 October 2026.
