The Take

Same chip. Same Rs. 72,999 launch price. The same climb to a Rs. 85,999 list price. On 18 October the OnePlus 15 listed at about Rs. 85,000 and the iQOO 15 between Rs. 83,000 and Rs. 86,000, so money will not decide this one. 4 rows will. The OnePlus has the bigger battery, the faster charging and the tougher water ratings. The iQOO has the sharper, brighter screen and the longer update promise. For most buyers the iQOO 15 is the better phone to keep for 5 years. For heavy users, gamers and anyone hard on their phone, the OnePlus 15.

01 - Why the price settles nothing

Twins in the price list, strangers on the spec sheet.

These 2 phones launched 13 days apart in November 2025 at exactly the same price, Rs. 72,999 for 12GB and 256GB, the launch price. Through 2026 both makers raised them in steps, and both landed on exactly the same list price, Rs. 85,999, with the 16GB and 512GB models at Rs. 93,999. The base listings on 18 October sat Rs. 909 apart. Whatever you were hoping to save by choosing one over the other, you will not.

They also run the same chip, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and published benchmark runs put them within a few % of each other. So the decision is not about speed or price. It is about 4 rows where the 2 makers made genuinely different bets.

02 - Row 1: the screen

The iQOO wins the thing you look at all day.

The iQOO 15 has a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED at 508 pixels per inch, refreshing at up to 144Hz, with high-brightness mode reaching 2,600 nits. The OnePlus 15 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED at 450 pixels per inch, adaptive up to 120Hz day to day and up to 165Hz in supported games, with 1,800 nits in high-brightness mode.

Comparing like with like, high-brightness mode against high-brightness mode, the iQOO is about 44% brighter, which is the figure that matters on a scooter at noon. It is sharper too, if not by a margin most eyes will chase. The OnePlus answers with speed, and for a serious mobile gamer 165Hz is a real advantage. For everyone else, the iQOO's screen is the better screen.

03 - Row 2: the battery

The OnePlus wins the thing you worry about at 7pm.

7,300mAh against 7,000mAh. 120W wired against 100W. 50W wireless against 40W. The OnePlus is ahead on all 3 rows, and its 120W charger is in the box by OnePlus's own specification, which says a full charge takes about 39 minutes. iQOO's wireless dock is sold separately.

Be honest about the size of this gap, though. 300mAh is about 4% more battery. Both phones carry far more than the flagships of 2 years ago, and both refill fast enough that the difference is minutes, not hours. This row goes to the OnePlus, but it is a narrower win than the screen.

04 - Row 3: the long game

5 upgrades and 7 years against 4 and 6.

iQOO announced 5 Android upgrades and 7 years of security updates for the iQOO 15 at launch. OnePlus's commitment for the OnePlus 15, as reported at launch, is 4 upgrades and 6 years. Neither maker prints the policy on its own spec page, which we note for both.

At Rs. 85,000, many buyers will keep this phone 4 or 5 years, and some will hand it to a parent after that. The extra upgrade and the extra year of patches are worth more over that life than 300mAh. This row goes to the iQOO, and it is the row that tips our verdict.

05 - Row 4: toughness, and the zoom split

The OnePlus is harder to kill. The cameras split the difference.

Water and dust. The OnePlus 15 carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. The iQOO 15 carries IP68 and IP69. Both survive a dunk and a hot-water jet; the OnePlus adds the ratings for powerful water jets. If your phone lives in a kitchen, a workshop or a monsoon, that is a point to the OnePlus.

Zoom. Both have 3 50MP rear cameras with a stabilised periscope telephoto. The OnePlus reaches further, 3.5x. The iQOO stops at 3x but puts it on a much larger 1/1.95-inch sensor, against the OnePlus's 1/2.76-inch, and a larger sensor gathers more light. More reach against better low-light zoom: this row is a genuine tie, decided by whether you zoom at a cricket ground or across a dim restaurant.

The extras. The iQOO adds its Q3 graphics chip for game upscaling and frame interpolation. The OnePlus has the Plus Key, a programmable side button, and is a few grams lighter, 211g to 215g against 216g to 220g. Both have ultrasonic fingerprint readers, IR blasters, Wi-Fi 7 and NFC.

06 - Who should buy which

Pick by how you use a phone.

Choose the iQOO 15 if
  • You read, watch and browse more than you game
  • You plan to keep the phone 5 years or pass it on
  • You zoom indoors and at night more than at distance
  • You want the brighter screen for outdoor use
Choose the OnePlus 15 if
  • You game seriously and want 165Hz
  • Battery and charging speed come before everything
  • You charge wirelessly and want it fast
  • Your phone gets wet, dusty and dropped
The Verdict

The iQOO 15, narrowly, for most buyers. At the same price with the same chip, it has the better screen, sharper and about 44% brighter in high-brightness mode, and a longer update promise, 5 upgrades and 7 years against 4 and 6. Those are the rows you live with for the life of a Rs. 85,000 phone. The OnePlus 15 is the better pick for gamers, heavy users and anyone who is rough on a phone: more battery, faster wired and wireless charging, 4 IP ratings and longer zoom. Neither is a mistake. Check both listings on the day, and if one has slipped Rs. 3,000 below the other, let that decide it.

Same price, same chip. Choose the screen or the battery.

How we priced and checked this

Prices are for the base 12GB and 256GB models, read from live listings at major Indian retailers on 18 October 2026. Launch and list prices are labelled as such. Specifications are confirmed against each maker's India specification pages and at least 1 independent source; update policies come from launch reporting, as neither maker states them on its spec page. Brightness is compared high-brightness mode against high-brightness mode only, because the 2 makers publish different kinds of peak figure. Benchmark scores are left out because the phones share a chip. Our verdict is based on published specification, not hands-on testing: we have not held either phone.
