realme P4s Lite 4G Launched in India at Rs. 16,499: 7,000mAh, and Rs. 1,000 Short of 5G
What is 5G worth to you? realme has just put a price on it, and the answer is about Rs. 1,000. The realme P4s Lite 4G launched in India on 5 October at Rs. 16,499 for 4GB + 64GB, went on sale on 8 October, and a week later already lists at about Rs. 15,000. It is a well-built battery phone: 7,000mAh, IP64, a 120Hz screen, a headphone jack and a dedicated memory card slot. It is also 4G only, on an entry-level Unisoc chip, sitting about Rs. 1,000 below realme's own P4 Lite 5G, which keeps the same battery and camera and adds 5G, a faster chip and a 144Hz screen.

A sensible battery phone with a sensible body.
Credit where it is due. 7,000mAh is a big cell for this money, and realme wraps it in an IP64 body, which means dust-tight enough and splash-proof enough for a monsoon commute. It keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, it keeps a dedicated memory card slot so you never have to choose between a second SIM and more storage, and it can charge your earbuds off its own cable. The 6.75-inch LCD runs at 120Hz, and realme lists 900 nits in high-brightness mode, a respectable figure for an LCD at this price.
The compromises are the familiar ones at this price, and they come in a stack. Charging is 15W, so that 7,000mAh cell is an overnight job rather than a lunch-break top-up. The screen is HD+, not Full HD. There is one 13MP camera on the back; realme's "50MP" mode is software working on that sensor, not a 50MP camera. The selfie camera is 5MP. And realme has not published how many Android upgrades or how many years of security patches the phone will get. It does promise "36 months of fluency", which is a marketing phrase, not an update policy.
Rs. 1,000 is the cheapest 5G upgrade you will ever buy.
Here is the sibling problem. realme's own P4 Lite 5G lists at about Rs. 16,000 for its 4GB + 64GB model today, about Rs. 1,000 above this phone at the same memory and storage. For that Rs. 1,000 it adds 5G, a Dimensity 6300 chip, a 144Hz screen and a body 0.6mm thinner, while keeping the same 7,000mAh battery, the same 15W charging, the same single 13MP camera and the same IP64 rating.

A phone bought in 2026 and kept for 3 or 4 years will spend most of its life on networks that are leaning harder on 5G every year. Saving Rs. 1,000 today to give that up is a poor trade for almost everyone. The one buyer it suits is someone on a 4G-only plan in an area with patchy 5G who will never change either, and who wants the dedicated card slot. Everyone else should spend the extra Rs. 1,000.
The price has already moved once. The 4GB + 64GB launched at Rs. 16,499 and lists at about Rs. 15,000 a week later, 9% below launch. For once the drift is in the buyer's favour, but it has only closed the gap to the 5G sibling, not opened one.
The realme P4s Lite 4G gets the basics of a battery phone right: 7,000mAh, IP64, a headphone jack and a dedicated card slot, at about Rs. 15,000. It also charges slowly, has one rear camera, publishes no update policy and has no 5G, in a showroom where realme's own P4 Lite 5G fixes the last of those for about Rs. 1,000 more. Skip it unless you are certain you will never need 5G.
A fine 4G phone in a 5G year. Spend the extra Rs. 1,000 on the P4 Lite 5G.
The sibling that wins: realme P4 Lite 5G review. More battery phones at this money: best battery life phones between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 20,000. The whole band: best phones under Rs. 15,000.
